Hurricane Preparedness

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) reminds us that "Andrea, the first tropical storm of the season, recently kicked off what is forecast to be an above-average hurricane season."  Please remember, if you've not already done so, you need to create a plan, gather supplies and ensure you have everything you need for your pet in the event you must evacuate.  We encourage you to visit the HSUS site for tips about putting together a Pet Emergency Kit as well as other valuable information. Featured Rescue: Moses Joseph

We love happy endings, don't you? Meet Moses Joseph, a lively and friendly 4 year old Keeshond rescued from north GA after having been abandoned at a local public shelter.  Moses had a mature cataract in his right eye that required removal and the placement of a new lens in order to enable him to see out of his right eye.  All of us at Florida Keeshond Rescue thank Dr. Brown of the Animal Eye Clinic, Jacksonville, Florida (Animal Eye Clinic), the Bellino Family and everyone who offered prayers and support for this very special boy. We are happy to report that  Moses Joseph now has full sight in both eyes and he also has his very own forever family thanks to Ed and Gerry Palmieri and Tina.  A very happy ending for a very special boy!  Moses Joseph is a GREAT dog and a total love who brings joy to the heart of anyone who meets him. There are many wonderful Keeshonden, each with his or her special story, in need of medical assistance, fostering and a forever family.  Florida Keeshond Rescue, like most rescues, seldom recoups the amount we pay out for veterinary care for our foster dogs so please help us help them in whatever ways you are able, make a donation, pledge funds, join us in prayers and/or consider fostering or adopting.  Together we can ensure that awesome dogs like Moses Joseph continue to get the care they need to have the best life.  Thank you.

You Ought to be in Pictures - Dog Days of Summer

Want to have your Keeshond's picture showcased in Fuzz Buzz? If so, please send pictures in .jpg format to Hollikees@aol.com. Each quarter we will share at least one picture with everyone. So, get out your cameras and start capturing your Keeshond's beauty or antics. For the next issue please send us the best Halloween or Fall  picture of your Kees - come on, we know lots of Kees who'd make really good SPOOK-KEES:) Have fun and send those pictures in soon.  It's a challenge to pick just one and since we just couldn't do that this time, we're including a few that depict ways to keep cool during the dog days of summer- enjoy!      1.Get wet 2. Upside down chill 3. Nap on your favorite quilt 4.Chill on the couch with your favorite toy 5.Kick off the covers and stretch out 6. Foster Caregivers Needed

2007 proved to be another very active year for us with over 40 dogs needing our assistance. Each dog is so special and deserving of respect and the love of a forever family.  What a wonderful blessing our adopters are for these dogs and we thank each one of you for opening your hearts and home for a rescued Keeshond.  We're six months into 2008, and we have already been contacted to help many, MANY dogs!  At this time we have only two active foster homes and hope you will consider becoming a foster caregiver - the dogs need you and so do we!  All  approved expenses associated with the care of Keeshonden in our foster care program are paid by Florida Keeshond Rescue. Volunteer Application click here:    Foster Application .   If you would like more information, please contact us at:  Hollikees@aol.com.  On behalf of the dogs we serve, thank you.
